Utah Fashion Night Out

I was very happy to meet Madison Slagowski, the other day. She invited me to take behind the scenes photography for Utah's Fashion Night Out. It was great to see all the beautiful talent audition to be in the runway show. I always enjoy seeing what is happening on the local scene, shop owners, models, clothing designers, stylists, producers, etc. It's been way too long since I've posted on here! I've been really busy building my photography business but still want to support local business as much as I can!
Enjoy the behind the scenes photos from the model casting for the soon coming event of Fashion Night Out in Salt Lake City! Should be a fantastic event.

HoopLa Earrings

About a year ago I met Mandy Buntjer and I've been grateful every since! What an amazing, creative and kind person. Seriously one of the best people I've ever met.
At the time I was working for a shop that was purchasing her adorable earrings wholesale. After our first couple meetings to make an order, we ended up becoming fast friends.
I loved learning about her beautiful family and talking about all things creative.
We definitely spoke the same language LOL.
It's my pleasure to show you some of Mandy's handy work and to further spotlight some of the amazing talent right here in UTAH.

Thank you for supporting Utah Fashion Underground, where we highlight those amazing people that make up Utah's Fashion scene...

Persona Swimwear

Turning an End Into a Creative Beginning-Utah Woman Designs Swimwear with a Playful Whimsy.
Fusing Art with Fashion has turned into a creative business for Emily Sanders. After the end of her marriage, she used the power of creativity to heal and help women feel confident in a swimsuit.
“I wanted to shake off the negative feelings from the end of my marriage. I wanted to enjoy life again-to laugh and feel free.” so Sanders started using her art background to create and get grounded.
Taking what money she had, Sanders decided to put down her paintbrush and pick up a sketch pad, filling it with vibrant colors to create a swimsuit line that not only picked her up emotionally, but also created a swim line that showcased her unique style while also being functional for a day at the pool.
“Whimsical playfulness, full of individuality and fun-loving freedom” is how Sanders describes her creations. “Women who wear my suits are living life to the fullest.” She states. “I wanted to create designs from my new life, ones that had the feeling of light-hearted fun, that were functional, with a burst of unique style.”
Having worked full-time in Park City's Terzian Gallery, Sanders had no background in design, manufacturing, or even in running a small business, but she researched, went to classes, and navigated herself through the complicated world of product development.  Sanders even took a crash course in HTML and webdesign getting Personaswimwear.com up and running all on her own.
In essence, Sanders didn't just dream, she actually made it a reality all on her own, which is a story that could inspire any woman who wants to one day start her own business but lacks the know-how.  Sanders now has some answers she's willing to share with those who are ready to start the next chapter in their life.

Whimsy Clothing Boutique

4 months ago I met the owner(Carol) of a local store called WHIMSY. I love the unique style of clothing she sells at her store! I've found so many things I want to have in my own wardrobe...
Carol has been a joy to work with and I've actually learned a lot from working with her.
I had the pleasure of helping style and do set design for a recent Fashion Show WHIMSY did for the MS Society.
I've really appreciated that WHIMSY buys from local vendors and supports the community in so many ways!
Here are some of the photos from shoots and Ads I've done for WHIMSY. Also a link to their blog where you can learn what's new at their store but also fun things like how to dress for your body type!

So if you love what you see go see their blog at:

Nappi Clothing

If you are viewing UTAH FASHION UNDERGROUND blog for the first time this week let me explain
what our mission is:
Having been a Fashion Photographer and Stylist in Utah for several years now, I've come across many amazingly talented people in Utah's Fashion world. Granted, we are not NYC or LA or PARIS. But there are many Artists, Clothing Designers, Stylists, Fashion Photographers, Local Stores, etc. that deserve to be much more known.
This Blog's purpose is to be a stage for Utah's Fashion scene. Each week I will be focusing on a locals that have ANYTHING to do with Fashion in Utah.
This week: Danny Nappi, Matt Butler, Local Models
I met Danny a couple years ago when we worked on a small local film called Unpleasantville. I was immediately impressed with his unique eye and sleek style. It was much more urban than most of what is made in Utah and I appreciated that!

I've had several visits with Danny Nappi at his studio. I always have to take snapshots of all the quirky, fun things he has there. Whether it's a pile of patterns, or his cat taking a nap on his chair, I am always compelled to capture the fantastic atmosphere I feel when I'm there.

He truly is a creative genius and I'm excited to show you a peak into his studio and mostly the short FASHION FILM I styled for with Matt and Aaron.  YOU CAN WATCH THE FILM BY CLICKING ON THE LINK AT THE END OF THIS POST...

Here are photos from a shoot I did for Nappi with the lovely Tandra Steiner... (modellarte.com)

A peak into
Danny's Studio:

Below is a behind the scenes photo of our beautiful models and film makers!

I teamed up with two extremely talented local film makers: Matt Butler and Aaron Sorensen. We have worked together before and I knew they would be a perfect fit to do a short Fashion film for Nappi.
